I started my working life at a bank, intending to stay there for 6 months until I figured out what I really wanted to do and 22 years later I was still there! Thankfully about 12 years ago I decided to have a complete change of career and re-trained as a therapist, and I've never looked back.
My training began with a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage which incorporated Advanced Massage Techniques, Pregnancy Massage and Sports Massage Techniques and I then went on to take the Reiki First Degree and Reiki Second Degree, which enhanced my practice greatly. I began working at Fountains Court Centre for Wellbeing and then also later at the Crown Spa Hotel in Scarborough and Raithwaite Hall in Sandsend, Whitby.
Whilst working at St Catherine's Hospice as a volunteer, I was introduced to Hendrickson Method of Massage and Manual Therapy and once I had trained in this, which took approximately 2 years, it quickly became my go-to treatment for most musculo-skeletal complaints, due to the success I was seeing with clients on a regular basis.
I've since trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Indian Head Massage, Balinese Massage, Reflexology and Acupressure Massage.
I decided to undertake further training and qualification in order to equip me to deal with some of the more challenging emotional issues that clients were coming to me with. This prompted me to train in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) so that I had a solid, well respected, therapeutic technique with which to help clients in this area. It is also a wonderful tool for clients to learn for their own self-help.
I have recently furthered my Reiki journey by undertaking the Reiki Master Practitioner Degree.
I am a qualified Life Coach and hold a Counselling Certificate and CBT Diploma.
I added a Deep Oscillation Therapy machine to my practice which has been a wonderful addition and is producing great results with a wide range of muscle/ligament/tendon/swelling issues as well as helping with post-operative treatment.
Most recently, I have trained in Scar Therapy with Harley Street specialist Emma Holly. In addition, I am now trained in Oncology Massage and Myofascial Cupping Therapy.
I offer Complementary Therapy to patients, relatives, staff and volunteers at Saint Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough and partner with the MS Society to provide treatments to their members.
I feel that the combination of therapies that I offer provide an extremely effective solution to help you back to health, whether that be physical, mental or emotional, and to promote your own self healing, so that you can live a joyful and rewarding life. I look forward to meeting you.
